Water System

Finally, Hugo and I finished the water system for Ledge's marine science class especially for his fishes. Well were almost done with it we just need the valves. Ledge got tired of the students carry buckets and spilling so he decided to make a water system.So he told Hugo and I decided to help Hugo out.

FLL

On Saturday it was pretty amazing I got here a little late but everything was alright.There were four tables on the stage each table had two refs. Meraz and Liz were paired up with each other, Martin was with Yuli, Gonzo was with  Timmy, and I was paired up with Dillon. It was pretty cool seeing  the kids robots and the way they figured out to do the missions.During the practice runs Dillon was the one who was judging them but, for the rest of the time I was judging them, I thought it was pretty amazing. But when my team came up Dillon had to judge them because they don't allow refs to judge their own team. My team did sort of okay but i know they could have done better. I am looking forward to next year Lego competition.

This Week Mentoring At J.B Sutton

On Monday Ricardo, Walter, Carlos, and I went to go mentor at Sutton.They already had the get the syringe in base down but they had the little lever day the opposite way. They had to figure out how to do that mission again, other kids were working on research, some kids were working on bionic stilts and and bionic legs.

On Tuesday I went to mentor with Walter and Carlos they finished the syringe mission and Mr. Jones told them to try and get over to the other side of the mat. Walter and Carlos were helping the kids to get to the other side of the field because Mr. Jones was helping the research kids. I was helping two kids how to make the bionic stilts go up controlled by motor it was pretty hard.

On Wednesday since we got out early Carlos, Ricardo, and I went to go mentor early. When we got to the school they still had not gotten out of school so, we went to the Lego room but it was not open so we went to the playground. Like five minutes or more when we were inside the room Staphany and Martin got there. Ricardo left because there was too many people and they say that there can't be to many people at a school.Carlos was helping the programmers/robot controllers, Staphany and Martin were in the back with the research kids so I guess they were helping them, I know what Carlos was doing because he was in front of me. I was helping the kids that I was helping on Tuesday with the Bionic Stilt I still think it is pretty hard. But I have an idea of how to make the bionic stilts move up and down by motor now!!

     

Mentoring This Week

I went mentoring all this week, on Monday I went with Ana, Martin, and Staphany, then on Tuesday I went mentoring with Ricardo and Carlos, finally on Wednesday I went mentoring with Martin, Staphany, and Ricardo. On Monday and Tuesday the kids were working on finishing their robots for they could start programing on Wednesday. They did accomplish their goals for this week. I think they are doing a pretty good job, one kid seems that he is going to be the lead programmer. We have not been able to stay after school since Ledge went early Tuesday morning to Washington D.C. 

This Week of Oct. 11 - 15, 2010

This week Ledge is going to go early home. So we do not have that much time after school in the robotics room. On wednesday I took the PSAT it was pretty hard. But the hardest thing was that we only had 25 minutes to do each section. This week I did not go mentor at Sutton because they are on break.

Rail Fair

This Saturday and Sunday I went to rail fair. On each day I talked to a bunch of people it was pretty fun. But I hope after all that talking some people make tax credit donation.The first day of rail fair I went on a train with Meraz and Diserae, then we went to the museum, and finally we went that train that was to look at.When there was not that many people coming at the end we went to go play soccer. The second day of rail fair I went to the new building with Ledge and some other people.That new building when it is down it is going to be very awesome. We were in that building for a long time because we were talking to 2 engineers. Like in the afternoon I went on a treasure hunt with some other people. So that is what I did on those 2 days of rail fair talked to many people and explored rail fair.

October 4,2010

This week I am going to take the Ham Radio class and on Friday I am going to take the test. I went to go mentor at Sutton with Ana and Carlos when we got there, surprisingly Walter was there. Today they divide themselves into 4 groups.One group had to work on one robot, another group had to work on another robot, another group had to finish building the pieces that were not done, the last group had to put the kit were it went on the field and they also had to put on the Velcro.Tomorrow Eddie, Ana, and I are going to go mentor at Sutton Martin might also go but I am not sure. Also I am planning to go to the event that they are going to have at Issac.

Last Wednesday I went to go mentor at J.B. Sutton since that day we got out early we went to Sutton around 2:35. We got their early of course we had to wait outside for 5-3 minutes. When the bell ranged we went to room 9 but they were not their yet.I went to the playground and the rest of the people who came to mentor stayed at room 9. While I was at the playground I was playing tag with the kids it was pretty fun. But they still got me tired because they were mostly tagging me and I was tagging them back. That day Luis, Hymie, and some other kids, and I were working on the brain. We were almost done with it but we did not finish we were just missing the door. Yuli was doing a pretty good job of explaining the missions to the kids. I also fixed the Medicine dispenser because some kids measured the rods wrong. I also fixed the one Oscar and his group were working on because Oscar measured wrong.

9-27-10

Yesterday I went to go mentor at Sutton with Walter. They finally got the kit but we did not start building because they are going to move back to Room 9.Then after we came back I had to take the Ref test for lego. I only missed 2 questions so I passed the test.

Last week on Wednesday Eddie, Martin, Stephenie, Carlos Rebbecca and me went to Sutton to mentor. We went to the computer lab because in room 9 there was no air conditioner.Then Martin was scary a little girl that he was helping. We were showing them the Usfirst.org website. Then we came back to school but everyone had left already so we went home.

Today I helped take some graffiti of the wall.Meraz and I today finished signing up for the PSAT. We also had a AUV meeting to see what we were going to ask Seabotix, UCSD, and San Diego City College.

9/16/10

Today we left from school at noon to go to San Diego. At first nobody was doing homework because we were hungry. Then after we finished eating and got on the freeway again. Everybody starting doing their homework. Around 7pm we got to San Diego. Then we checked in, took our stuff to our rooms, after that we had to meet in Ledge's room to see what we were going to eat, and after the pizza was here and we ate we had a meeting, and after the meeting we had to go to sleep.

Today the home school kids came and they told all the refs their ideas of how doing each mission. They are really smart because their ideas were very good. They came for we could also help them out. One kid was taller than me and Yuli he was pretty tall.

Ana and me went home early because we had to do some homework.We had already seen 2 million minutes in Ledge's class. He showed to us in the first weeks of school. So we decided to go home and do homework instead.

Today other people and me saw a video about the Lego league. It was pretty cool it showed us some rules. Julian and Hugo were training us how to be a ref. After each video they would ask us question to see if we were paying attention.

Today other people and I did the Fund-raising workshop. Helped take trash down stairs today and yesterday but more today.

I forgot to wright on Monday(8/30/2010) so today I am writing (9/1/2010) about what I did on Monday. I helped Hugo set up something on a computer that is now in the play room. I was like his little helper I took him keyboards, computer wires, and I took him computers.

Today I made something out of acrylic. I also helped Eddie and Ricardo move the robots. Also helped clean up the room because it flood. Cleaned up the room after school were the Grinder is at because there was a bunch of grind acrylic.

Aug. 25, 2010

Today at lunch Manuel and I cut a fiber glass for it can be ten inches long. In the afternoon we played BS because Ledge was at a meeting and we had nothing to do. When he came back we saw "The Road" it was a sad movie.

Today my assistant Manuela and I took of the plate that was between the Gearbox and the wheel. It took Manuela and us a while because we asked Carlos what to do and he told us the wrong thing to do. We also had to think of a way to bulge the wheels and the motors to the frame. At lunch I squared with Meraz.

Today I saw the PowerPoint that Eddie made on Safety F.I.R.S.T Eddie also explained his PowerPoint to us. I also learned more about Google Docs. I helped Yullian at the beginning of Robotics today to fix the messed up scrubbers. I also used the Chop saw for the first time and it was cool. Eddie said that I made a perfect cut on the fiberglass, that for my first time it was pretty good.

August 16, 2010

Tuesday, Mari, Diserae, Meraz, Manuel, and I worked on Heather because she had some minor problems. We had to fix one of the bumpers because it was loose, fix one of the kickers, and fix the lid that flips up.

Today I practiced the Ham Radio test. I sat next to Meraz and saw how he got a 71 for his first time I think. Today some people from the Arizona Republic came and showed us pictures, that David Wallace took when he and Richard Ruelas followed the team last year for a year. I also got my FIRST PLEDGE TODAY! I thought it was pretty cool from my physical science teacher.

Today I helped clean the Robotics room and see how they tested the motor.
